What is a digital certificate and how do I get one?
A digital certificate is an electronic file that certifies a computer to gain
access to PFAD. It also encrypts the information that is being transferred
to and from PFAD. To get a digital certificate you must have your user
account information, and be in front of the computer you want to certify,
then call technical support at 1-888-23LEGAL(53425).

    Back to FAQ

How long does a certificate last?
PFAD certificates are now good for two years. In some cases certificates
expire earlier because they are broken or invalidated by changes made
to the computer. For example: changing your profile, adding or
    removing software, windows updates etc.

    Back to FAQ

How do I know if my certificate expired?
Normally there is a warning before your certificate will expire, but there
are cases where the certificates have expired before their two year
period. Please call technical support at 1-888-23LEGAL(53425) for further assistance.

    Back to FAQ

Do I get a warning before my certificate expires?
Definitely! Starting 14 days before it expires you will start seeing a
warning on the Main Menu screen after you log in stating “The Digital
Certificate that you are currently using will expire in ** days." Please
call technical support at 1-888-23LEGAL(53425) before that time for help
installing a new digital certificate. The warning will count down the days
and turn red as it gets dangerously close to expiring.

    Is PFAD up?
PFAD, on average, is up and running 99% of the time. This question is
usually asked when one of our users can’t get to our website. Please test
and see if you can get to other web pages on the Internet. If you can’t,
call your technical department or Internet service provider. Most likely
your connection is down. If you can get to other web pages on the
Internet except PFAD, please call technical support at

    Back to FAQ

Why can’t I find the case I was working on?
The best rule for searching is “less is more.” Try entering only the
defendant’s last name and county when searching. Are you looking for
a case that hasn’t been filed yet? Best thing to do is to search for it
by only using the PFAD number. If you are still having problems, call
    technical support at 1-888-23LEGAL(53425).

    Back to FAQ

Why aren’t my changes showing on the printable view?
Sometimes your browser doesn’t refresh right away after you have made
changes. You can force the computer to refresh by hitting F5 when you
are looking at the printable view. If this is a constant issue you will also
need to change your temporary Internet files settings to “Every Visit to the Page.”

    Back to FAQ

Can I print out blank forms, and if so how?
Yes, you can print blank forms. On the PFAD home page is a link to
PFAD Printable Forms. Just click on the form you want and a printable
    copy will be displayed.
